The Nazoo Anna School was started in 1980
by Nazaneen Majeed, an Afghan refugee herself, to provide education
for children in the refugee camps in Peshawar, Pakistan. It began in
Nazaneen's house, but later moved to a larger building supporting
students from five different refugee camps. It still supports over
800 refugee girls. Ms. Majeed has now established two junior schools
and one high school in and around Jalalabad, Afghanistan with
attendance of 4000 girls. These schools are a registered NGO called
Nazaneen Jabarkhil Education & Health Centre. We support
Nazaneen's schools by providing funds to pay teachers' salaries,
students' supplies, books and other operating costs.

DARE TO DREAM: Help Build a School in Afghanistan (Grand Opening Pictures)
WE DARED TO DREAM AND WE DID IT
With the help and a major financial contribution from a Canadian engineer, CSAW has built a school in Afghanistan. (details here)
Here is an interview with Nazaneen regarding the new school and the people who live in this area..
The Libraries for Afghanistan Fund was established in 2003 in collaboration with Deborah Ellis, award winning Canadian children's author. Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan in partnership with Canadians In Support of Afghan Women administers the fund. Its goal is to provide money to rebuild literacy opportunities for Afghan women and their families. We fund a number of projects which support the empowering efforts of Afghan Women in both Afghanistan and the refugee camps. This fund is for resources only. Here are some images of the library.

The Afghan Women's Resource Centre (AWRC) was
started in 1989, by Afghan women in refugee camps in and around
Peshawar, Pakistan. Its goal is to help women who are marginalized
due to wars, to become skilled and able to be the breadwinners in
their families. As well as business and craft skills, women are
taught about health, and offered daycare while learning and
working.
AWRC has now opened its doors inside Afghanistan in Kabul and
Jalalabad and is seen as an important service for all women there.
Their beautiful embroidered goods are sold by CSAW, and this is an
important source of income for the sewing group. Here is a profile of
the organization. (profile)
